NursingPower’s Evolving Goals and Mission Statements for Advanced Practice Nursing
Your challenge, should you accept it, is to determine exactly what nursing brings to the table, how nursing care enhances advanced clinical practice, and how we can non-competitively collaborate with our physician colleagues.
Goal Statement: Identify ways in which to bring APRNs (Advanced Practice Registered Nurses) such as DNPs (Doctors of Nursing Practice), CNMs (Certified Nurse Midwives), and CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) to the same peer level as physicians and other doctoral level professionals.
Mission: Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) will develop and identify channels to incorporate and implement themselves into the healthcare arena as respected practitioners of advanced nursing and clinical practice. They will show that Nursing is unique and enhances clinical practice.
Mission: Nurses will collaborate effectively with physicians, physician assistants (PAs), nurses and other respected members of the healthcare team. They will do this in a way that is not arrogant, self-serving, or competitive.
